The Gas Safety Trust – Goals for 2011/12 and beyond!
The Gas Safety Trust launched its Carbon Monoxide Hotspot Report 2010 at a reception in London on Tuesday 12 October 2010, which was attended by an invited audience of gas industry organisations, charities and stakeholders.
During her presentation of the report’s findings, Trust Chair, Professor Mary Benwell, commented: “For the last four years, the Gas Safety Trust has funded and recorded the reporting of incidents of death and serious injury from carbon monoxide, however, the report clearly highlights the need to scope the risk posed by lower level CO exposure in UK homes.“
Professor Benwell concluded that the report’s insights would shape and influence the future direction and objectives of the Gas Safety Trust and the role of its Trustees: “Key considerations for Trust going forward include, working in close partnership with the medical profession to ensure that symptoms are correctly diagnosed and that testing for carbon monoxide at autopsy is trailed in the UK.”
Nigel Dumbrell, Head of Charitable Operations at the Trust also highlighted the need for ALL stakeholders, trade associations, charities, government departments and businesses, to work in closer partnership: “To become more unified in OUR overall mutual objective of saving lives and reducing serious injury from Carbon Monoxide!” he said.
